The show will follow the different interpretations of the word “mad” through three movements: Anger, Paranoia, and Insanity. Music selections include “Toxicity” by System of a Down, “Mad World” by Gary Jules, Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”, as well as the implication of Skrillex’s Dubstep piece “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” into the Inception theme song “Dream is Collapsing”. The show’s overlying musical theme consists of Clint Mansell’s “Requiem for a Dream”.
The ensemble is under the Co-Direction and Musical Design of returning staff members Melissa Bianco and Eric English. Katie Daniels also returns as this year’s Band Director and overall Program Coordinator. The ensemble would like to also welcome both new and returning faces to this year’s staff: Visual Designer Joe Wormworth Jr., Visual Caption Head Andy Buchmann, Nicole Kessler as Cymbal Tech, Jessica Czachowski as Body Visual Designer, and Jed Daniels as Electronics and Pit Tech. The group has 28 students, playing a large variety of percussion instruments both in the drumline and front ensemble.
The ensemble’s first public performance will be at this year’s Jordan Elbridge Winterguard home show on Saturday, February 4th. They will also be hosting their own home show on Saturday, February 25th with a guest performance from this year’s winterguard. They will also be travelling to NYSPC competitions at Waterloo (2/18), Central Square (3/10), ESM (3/24) and this year’s state championships being held at OCC (4/1).
